Each dog has a 10 ft. deep interior runs & 30 ft. exterior run.
Office, Puppy Parlor, State of the Art Grooming Facility featuring 
Hydro-Massage, Shore-line's Stainless Steel Tub complete with stairs & 
walk thru door and custom built grooming station.
The entire Dog kennel area's walls are completely covered with Stainless Steel.  
The ceiling is a custom built Acoustical Ceiling.  Custom Built Privacy walls 
divide each dog.
Ceiling fans, Can lights, 3 separate air-conditioning & furnace units.  Custom Built Kitchen complete with Range, Refrigerator & Microwave so that we may continue to cook nutritious REAL FOOD for our dogs.  Laundry Room, Isolation Room, and Naturally a completely separate area for the older pups when they are ready to leave the nursery which again is located adjoining our beautiful Tudor Style Rock Home.  Our home sits well above the kennel and I can step out my front door, whistle and have an overhead bird's eye view of all the dogs as they come outside.  Acres and acres of running space... all completely closed in by 6 foot fence.  
Lights, Security Cameras & Action...  From their nose to their toes... 
we've thought of it all.
We even designed it, and chose colors that will compliment the dogs.
Afterall, our motto is "Alles Fur Die Hunde"
(Everything for the Dog)

But what about the other kennel?
Well.... we may reopen it again as well.

Von Fenwald Kennels is located in Wonder Lake, Illinois. We are 65 miles northwest of Chicago, approximately 20 minutes from the Wisconsin Border. Our State of the Art Kennels are located on 40 acres which are surrounded by an additional 120 acres. It's off the beaten path, 3 blocks down a scenic private drive, lined with giant white pine trees. We have a fully stocked, spring fed pond, where the dogs go swimming. It's surrounded by ancient Willows, Poplars, Oaks, and Pine trees. There is a 7 acre giant Oak Tree Forest where more than 50 trees have flourished for over 100 years.

 The Name "Von Fenwald"

The first Kennel we built is adjacent to the Forest. Next to the Forest is a Very Rare type of Prairie called a "Fen." It is supposedly one of the best specimen in the Midwest. The German word for "From" is "Von" and the word for Forest is "Wald"....hence our kennel name... From the Fen & Forest....Von Fenwald Kennels.

The accommodations for our German Shepherds consist of 2 separate buildings.  Each of the buildings have both an interior suite and an exterior exercise run. The interior suites range in size from 10 feet by 10 feet to 8 feet by 6 feet. The exterior runs range in size from 30 feet long by 7 feet wide to 20 feet long by 10 feet wide. All of the dogs have 48" by 36" Resting benches to sleep on. We do not keep our dogs or puppies on cedar chips, wood shavings or pine bark. We feel that that is very unsanitary. They are not barn animals. They have access to their exterior runs for 16 hours per day. We also have 3 huge fenced in grassy areas where the dogs are rotated to thru-out the day to play with several other dogs. All of the dogs rotate for "In the House" time overnight so as not to forget their Social Graces. All of our dogs are on a strict grooming schedule and are kept meticulously clean.

With the Big Dipper up above, 12 Natural Springs, huge grassy fields for training or just goofing off, an abundance of wildlife and all the fresh air anyone could ask for, the dogs truly have a "Slice of Heaven on Earth."
